Edmonds Prepares
Edmonds Prepares! is a community-driven initiative dedicated to increasing Edmonds’ resilience to natural disaster and extreme weather events through individual and neighborhood-level preparedness and education.
An Initiative of Edmonds Climate Advisory Board
Who We Are
Launched in 2025 by the Edmonds Climate Advisory Board, Edmonds Prepares! fills a critical gap in community resilience by fostering collaboration and coordination among the City of Edmonds, South County Fire, local nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and residents. Drawing inspiration from the Bainbridge Prepares model, our program emphasizes practical, people-centered preparedness rooted in connection and neighbor-to-neighbor support.
Core Goals
Individual Preparedness: Educate the community on the 2 Weeks Ready program using the Edmonds Prepares! brochure as an introduction
Neighborhood Preparedness: Launch “Meet Your Neighbors” (MYN) gatherings across Edmonds, using the Bainbridge Model to strengthen block-level readiness.
Partner Coordination: Build a collaborative framework among City of Edmonds, South County Fire, and community nonprofits.
Education & Training: Promote 2 Weeks Ready, CERT, Red Cross, and MYN programs to increase resident capacity.
Inclusive Communication: Ensure readiness resources reach non-English speakers and vulnerable populations.
How It Works
Connect – Neighbors gather in small local groups.
Prepare – Participants share practical strategies and build personal plans.
Strengthen – Groups create communication and mutual support networks.
